La Belle Vie Spa Review: Hanoi’s Top Few Massage Venues

La Belle Vie Spa was where we visited for our body massage treatment during a recent visit to Hanoi, Vietnam. We were searching through the recommended spas in Hanoi and found La Belle Vie Spa to be ranked rather highly. Of course there are even more atas (high class) massage and spa venues in Hanoi such as those in 5 star hotels. However, we limited our search to massages that cost $30 SGD or less per hour, with highly-rated reviews. La Belle Vie Spa checked all the boxes…

The first impressions of La Belle Vie Spa Massage in Hanoi was actually quite good. Once we entered, we were asked whether we had made a reservation (in this case, we did via an email from their website). We indicated our reservations and were then shown to be seated at the reception area at level 1. The reception area of La Belle Vie Spa is actually not very big but is able to house about 4 couples. There is also 1 toilet at level 1 which you can use just before your treatment. The staff were friendly and we felt comfortable.

Once we were seated, another staff approached us to confirm our treatment. He also recommended a different treatment using the tools laid out on the table. However, we stuck to our original treatment decision of having the 2 hours La Belle Vie signature massage. We were also served candied fruits, nuts, towel and tea after we decided on the treatment. During this time, we were also given a form to indicate where we would not want to be massaged and where we would like to have more emphasis on. For the La Belle Vie signature massage, the description goes as follows:

“The exclusive treatment revitalizes your senses throughout the body. Your treatment starts with an invigorating foot ritual with herbal, next, achieve deep relaxation during a massage using La Belle Vie oil and Thai herbal compress and finally, experience a tingling awakening of your senses during a Vietnamese head massage.

Special Offer: Offer free meals for treatment from 90 minutes”

Prices for the La Belle Vie Signature Massage were as follows:

75 minutes: 790.000 VND ($45 SGD) 90 minutes: 990.000 VND ($56 SGD) 120 minutes: 1,190.000 VND ($68 SGD)

This time, we went for the 2 hours La Belle Vie Signature Massage. What caught our eye was that free meals would be offered for treatments above 90 minutes. We wondered what free meal it would be…?

Soon, we were led up to our private massage room at level 3 of the establishment. Once inside, we were shown the shorts that we would be wearing during treatment. Unlike massage treatments in Indonesia or Malaysia where disposable underwear would be provided, you would be wearing shorts over your underwear for the bottom and topless on the top. There was also a closet for us to keep our clothes and belongings. No issues or red flags in terms of security here.

Before long, our masseuse entered and started with a warm foot massage before leading us to our massage beds…

For those of you who are wondering if there is a hole for your head to rest in on the massage bed. There is. And at La Belle Vie Spa Hanoi, the massage bed was very comfortable. Just before the massage, our masseuse also confirmed our preferences indicated at the reception area.

Overall, the massage was superb. The first thing that the both of us wondered when the massage ended was

“Has it been 2 hours already?”

In fact, the massage at La Belle Vie Spa was so good that we drifted in and out of sleep frequently, drooling just as much (for Tom). As we indicated preferences for focus on the shoulder and calf area, we noticed that there was much emphasis to soothe our tension at these areas during the massage as well. The masseuse was also very attentive. When our hands got cold (due to the weather and cold air conditioning), the masseuse took time to warm up our hands using the herbal compress. Speaking of which, the herbal compress used during the treatment was so shiok! It not only felt good (not too hot) during the massage but it also warmed up the various parts of our body throughout the treatment. Our masseuse were both very professional and skilled. After the massage, we thanked them and tipped 50k VND per person. In our dreamy state, we left our massage treatment room at La Belle Vie Spa Hanoi and went to the reception area.

Here, we were given more tea, towel and snacks before we checked-in on what our meal option would be. Originally, we thought that it was just going to be a snack and that was about it. We were wrong. It was in fact a full meal!

We were led by a staff to a Vietnamese restaurant a few doors down and were offered to choose from either the Pho Bo (Beef Noodles) or the Bun Cha (Pork with Vermicelli). We went with the latter and were pleasantly surprised…

When the first serving of Bun Cha was brought to our table, we thought that it was probably it as the portion was large and it took up substantial space on the table. Then, the next portion came and we knew that we had 2 big portions of the bun cha. The bun cha came with a good mixture of meat ball, meats and fatty bits. As it was served on a hot plate, the meats were still sizzling when they arrived at our table. Turns out the complimentary meal at La Belle Vie Spa was the best bun cha that we had during our visit to Hanoi Vietnam!

After the meal, we found that the restaurant charged 110k VND for the bun cha and we also received at 10% discount from La Belle Vie Spa. Probably for first timers? In the end, we paid 1121000 VND (or $64 SGD) for a two hours massage, inclusive of a $7 SGD meal*. This meant that our massage was $57 SGD for 2 hours! Right on the mark for our budget of $30 SGD per hour.

*Prices indicated are per person

If you’re in Hanoi and would like a treatment that “would not go wrong”, La Belle Vie Spa Massage in Hanoi is definitely a venue that you want to try out. We were treated to a luxurious massage followed by a sumptuous meal at La Belle Vie Spa. Worth a visit!
